UNIQUE CONCRETE TILE FROM KOVALSKA FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE

Everyone wants their life to be full, regardless of physical abilities, comfortable and unencumbered.

Kovalska ICG, as a leader in the construction industry, cares not only about the quality of building materials and decent housing, but also deals with acute social problems of citizens.

One of such tasks, set by the specialists of Kovalska Group, was the creation of a special tactile tile made of concrete, designed for people with visual impairments.

Thanks to its relief surface, such tile facilitates orientation in space — indicates the correct direction of movement or the presence of obstacles on the way.

“Within the framework of the urban concept of Ukrainian megacities, we continue to create comfortable conditions for everyday life of their residents. Tactile tile is an opportunity for physically disabled people not to feel helpless. They can lead an active social life and be full members of society,” Serhii Pylypenko, General Director of Kovalska ICG, comments.

Concrete tactile tile is delivered in two types — with so-called “riffs” and diagonal strips. The first type warns the pedestrian of the beginning and end of the route portion with an increased level of danger, the second type signals the length of such portion.

The defining characteristic of the new product is its bright yellow color. According to scientists, it is best perceived in most cases of visual impairments.

The first tactile tilw made of concrete will be laid this summer in Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv. However, in the long term, the city authorities plan to equip the vast majority of the capital’s districts with such paving.
