The first route for visually impaired people has been arranged in Kyiv using special paving manufactured by Kovalska.
A relief track of 200 m long has been laid from the Klovska metro station to the Cultural Centre for the Blind.
Special tactile paving of the site will help visually impaired people safely and comfortably move around the usual route and find their way.
According to representatives of the Kyiv authorities, other routes of the capital used daily by people with special needs are planned to be equipped with such routes in the near future.
Avenu tactile paving slabs have two types. The first type, with “reefs”, warns the pedestrian of the beginning and end of the route section, the second, with stripes, indicates the direction and length of such a section. According to scientists, the yellow colour of paving is best perceived in most cases of visual impairments.
